His face is usually seen as calming to some, seeing him as a person of care rather than intimidation. This image below is a solid look at him when he is serious:
Kaiden's Harbringer, Nocturne never shows his true form like that of Thanatos or the others due to the disgusting past regaurding it. However, Noxious shows this form freely and the form is that of a black shadowed figure that bears what appears to be a male deer skull, albeit hideously morphed, for its head. The Harbringer itself was unintentionally based off the Wendigo, with some various changes. The image below is the closest rendition to Nocturne as well as Noxious:
Personality:
Pre-Entrapment - Kaiden is the kind of person most can go to for any type of issue and find solace in his calming centrist attitude. He can show you sides from all perspectives and help you see the benefit of an open mind. He would be one of many to pick up a weapon to fight the greater evil, especially the one that used to live within him. He would gladly sacrifice himself if it meant saving even a single life.
Post-Entrapment (Eon Wing Arc) - Kaiden has changed a lot in terms of how he represents himself. Before, he would gladly pick up a sword to protect those he loves, but after a gruesome experience in the Cage, he discovers he isn't as powerful as he wished, leading him down a path of fear and coldness. He has similar characteristics of his former self but soaked in pessimism and pain. He uses this to teach and learn from but the scars never truly healed.
Biography:
As a child around what would seem to be early childhood, Kaiden's birthmother Adrianne took him to see a colleague of hers, one that was trying to bring forth the better advancements of Highborn society and make them everlasting protectors. This program was known as The Harbringer Program, also known as The Harbringer Initiative, a program that unlocked what existed in one's Heart and Soul and let loose a part of them that brought forth unimaginable power. These were simply known as Harbringers, the Heart and Soul. Before he knew it, the procedure began, feeling pain from the studies for many weeks. After, he realized that he was put here against his will, the doctor known as Albert Diabound was proving that he would do anything to make this happen. He began to believe he was here because he was a bad son, seeing images of his mother during the procedures day after day. He couldn't bear the pain of his heart tearing in two. Then, the day he had given up, it worked. The final procedure had been a success. The being that worked with him was known simply as Nocturne. From that day forward, Diabound had become more obsessed with the idea of using this special four children as envoys to a new era of their species. Nuriko Tsukina, Katsuki Garren, Aniko Imoura and lastly, Kaiden Ayuzawa. These children were now known as the four horsemen; Death, Pestilence, Famine, and War.
This would bring forth training for these children, teaching them how to fight and utilize their abilities to further the treatment of the Harbringers they each possessed. However, one thing was problematic. The Heart and Soul of the child must remain in TACT. Kaiden was no longer the shy child he had been before, now he had snapped. The being, Nocturne would whisper to him and feed off of Kaiden's anguish, making him break more and more. Slowly he began to succumb to the beings will rather than his own emotionally. Thus, one day while training on how to harness the power of the Harbringers, Nocturne came out and stood before the trainers. Eiko Liwa, prior to her High Council status, looked on in horror as this child was covered in a black mass, tears coming out of the one eye she could see. Before the trainers could contain it, Kaiden lost control and swung without hesitation. He screamed a voice unlike his own, and before long, a bone-like mask began to form above his head, then the crackling began. Maniacle laughter as the child swung the creatures ragged claws around, striking anyone daring enough to get close. Trying to help, Katsuki tried to get close, hoping Kaiden would be able to calm down if a friend was talking to him but only was laughed at by the creature making Kaiden gouge his chest with a claw causing massive respiratory damage to him. Before he was able to move into the facility, he began to regain control. He was screaming at the top of his lungs "Let me go!" over and over and the creature would screech and hold its mask as if it was in pain. In a moment of haste, his closest friend, Nuriko, managed to get him close enough to listen to her voice. This caused the beast to flail and rage about, but Kaiden could hear her voice. This began to calm the boy down slowly. Then Nuriko began to sing a song to him, one she wrote about the two of them (Friendship to Last by Two Steps From Hell). Before the trainers or guards knew it, the beast began to dissipate back into Kaiden's body, then he passed out.
This event was the start of a war that soon would cause the 4 children the most painful memories of their past. Kaiden lost control once more due to being separated from Nuriko, almost leveling the facility and escaping toward the portal to the island of Niharuka. The being was stronger than ever before and it grew with every ounce of pain he felt. It passed through, realizing Kaiden was even more distraught at the thought at leaving Nuriko behind, the creature began to grow to a size that dwarfs mountains. The island at the time was nothing more than natives at the time, large villages spread all around. However, Nocturne would then begin to level the island, breaking parts of it into the ocean. This event is what the Highborn now call The Calamity of Man, but never speak of the event. Perhaps out of shame or ignorance. The high council was left with a decision, bring Kaiden down. This led to Nuriko being the last one standing amidst a whole army brought down by the beast that controlled her best friend, the boy she loved. Then, after destroying him, she was able to bring Kaiden back to the islands Holy Ground, now known as Angel Falls, only to discover her own mother had convinced the council to banish Kaiden to a realm they deemed only known as 'The Cage'. Nuriko rebelled against this decision, Katsuki, and Aniko joining her side. This only brought down her mothers "Justice" harder and condemned them all for being what she would call 'Monsters'. She watched as Kaiden was taken from her, then her brother and sister in arms. All she could do was run.
The steps ahead for Kaiden were lost in control of Nocturne, after time had passed in The Cage, there came another to penetrate it. A boy known to him as Placid. This person sounded cold to him, but calming. The two were surrounded by Nocturne, but it felt as if though Placid kept the creature at bay. Allowing them to discover more about one another. Placid decided he needed to leave, to find a way to help this boy who was trapped by others hands. After what would feel like months, a person was able to be reached, a shrine maiden named Mihari would heed Placid's call and allow him to escape. Unfortunately for him, the creature managed to seep out with him a part of the way, corrupting him slightly.
Time then passed before the creature saw its chance to break out on its own. The seals keeping him in place were now broken. Releasing Aniko from her shackles was the final piece needed to seep a little gift to the world out. He came up with the idea to release Kaiden, albeit corrupted. This came about as the creature known as Nightmare. However, the plan was foiled when he was cleansed and the part of him that kept ahold of Kaiden was no longer around. While in The Cage, Kaiden never aged. So, to Nuriko it was like Kaiden was the same kid she knew from training. But, Kaiden had no memories of his past life, beginning to live life with Nuriko in her manor. Problems rose again after the creature began to seep out again and again. The seals were weakening, he was coming sometime soon. By then, the being had called himself something new. He called himself Noxious, He Who Brings The Night.
After countless years under her watch, Kaiden then began to have flashbacks of his past. Now, he looked no older than Nuriko did, then she began to tell him who he really was and what he meant to her. This even brought problems within her home as she already had two children and a husband. However, Torimichu was laid back toward the situation, eventually sacrificing his life to make sure she was always happy. Kaiden never forgot what Tori did for her and remembers him constantly.
Jumping forward a few years, Kaiden and the other Harbringers are caught up in a mess that Nuriko's mother cooks up. This event causes them to all be sent to The Cage, however, something seems extremely off. This place, its entire purpose was no longer an endless void. It was now an actual plain of existence, filled with life. The group, however, became separated for two years, Kaiden being with Aniko and Nuriko with Katsuki. This is the when Kaiden has his first run-in with the one and only, Nel'Famrir, known to most in this world as the Shepard of Fire. This creature slaughtered his saviors, the tribe of cat-like people known as L'eur. In a ditch effort to save a child and Aniko, he was prepared to see himself killed by this creature's hand, only to be saved by the final member of the tribe. This event broke Kaiden, realizing he isn't strong and he never was. His body was burnt, bloody, and broken as he walked into the snow and then collapsed after a fit of adrenaline-fueled rage.
From that point forward, Kaiden was never the same, even after reassurance from many people. He was never able to hold a blade or fight for some time, flashing back to watching that warrior die. Now, he lives alongside his wife, Nuriko and their two children, Xaila and Xian, and their adopted L'eur daughter, Naria.
