The doors in front of him stood tall and foreboding. Kaiden looked at their metallic sheen and his heart grew heavy. His mother stood next to them as a chime rang and the doors began to open. A nice sounding woman's voice rang over a loudspeaker as they began to open. "Welcome back to Grand Haven, Dr. Adrianne Norvair." as the voice said, a rush of fear crept up Kaiden's spine as they took steps forward. He watched as several guardsmen watched them enter the facility. They had on metallic masks that protected their vital areas, but, he could feel the glares. The next set of checkpoints had more guards than before. These required more prominent weapons in case of a test subjects escape. "Ma'am, Professor Diabound is ready for the boys testing. He has requested that the boy not be with you past this point, however. Emotional ties can mess with the situation app-..." he said as the ballistic doors into the lab opened and a slender man smoking a cigarette came through. "Oh! Professor! I was just telling her that it was..." he began as the man raised his hand. "It's okay, I wanted to come see the boy personally." he said walking up to the woman and her son. He tossed the butt of the cigarette away and kneeled to the boy's height. He smiled warmly and tussled his hair and chuckled.
"Now now. There isn't a need to be afraid Kaiden. These tests will help better everyone. I promise." he said smiling. The smile made Kaiden grab his mothers hand. "W-Will.... W-Will..." he said looking frightened. "Yes? It's okay, go ahead." the Professor said waiting for the boy's question. Kaiden clenched his mother's hand more and began tearing up. Diabound watched as he figured the question that was coming. Knowing he would have to lie to the boy, he prepared for the inevitable. "W-Will i-it... hurt...?" Kaiden said trying to hold back tears. Diabound had a blank, yet serious, look on his face. However, he looked away from the boy. He then paused for a moment, then looked at the boy and warmly smiled at him. This action made Kaiden's chest tight, frozen in fear.
"Why... of course not my boy. There isn't going to be any pain. None at all..."
